Copy Express in the numbers

You may not realize how impressive the equipment is that we use to print all10 your marketing material. So I thought this month I would just show you the numbers and capabilities of our equipment.

  • 4 colours are used to print everything. Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key (black). You could print black with the other three colours but it’s more accurate and more economic to have black as its own separate colour
  • 9 types of papers in different sizes and weights, letterhead, Overhead Projector transparency, die cut adhesive labels, coated and uncoated, and even a small selection of coloured papers.
  • 20 sheets of copy paper can make up a 80 page center stapled book folded and stapled by our printer. If unfolded it can edge staple 100 sheets.
  • 25 Double sided A3 pages a minute is our main printers’ print speed, 70 pages a minute for single sided A4, both at top print quality. For the same sort of quality your average home printer manages 5-10 pages per minute of A4 1 sided.
  • 75 & 100 micron is the thickness of the plastic we use in our laminators. A micron is a thousandth of a millimeter so each type is no thicker than a human hair.
  • 100 meters is the length of paper rolls we load into our wide format printer to do your plans and posters. We also use rolls that range in width from 420-850mm.
  • 120 pages a minute is how fast our folder machine can run through a stack of sheets (and that’s considered slow in the printing industry!).
  • 250 sheets is the largest number of sheets we can bind with a wire comb, 500 sheets is the largest we can do with a plastic one.
  • 500 sheets is the standard pack size of copy paper (1 ream). Heavier papers come in pack of 250 and we get card in packs of 125
  • 790 mm is the width of the plastic of wide roll laminator uses – we can go as wide as 1.3 meters through one of our finishing partners.
  • 1000 sheets of copy paper can be cut by our electric guillotine in one chop. That’s a stack of paper 100mm tall. It’s powerful enough that it could cut through bone if we aren’t careful (we haven’t tested that!).
  • 2000 sheets of A4 copy paper is held in our main printer, plus: 500 sheets of A3 copy paper and up to 4000 sheets of paper any size and weight we want on top of that. Our smaller printer also holds 2000 A4 + 500 A3 copy paper and another 500 sheets of anything we want.
  • 1200×4800 dpi is the resolution of our printers.
  • 48,500 pages of standard A4 printing per bottle of toner with 4 bottles in total. An average home printer cartridge lasts 200-500 pages for an inkjet and 500-2000 for a laser printer.
  • 18,700m 2 paper & 18.6 Liters of ink . That’s how much our wide format printer has done printing plans and banners. Putting it in context, a A4 is only 0.06m 2 in area, and your average inkjet printer tank holds about 30ml
  • 1.8 Million ‘clicks’ or sides of printing have been done by our main printer since we got it 3 years ago. Or to look it at another way that’s at least 100 thousand square meters of paper, more than enough to wallpapers a few houses (or cities).

That’s just a few little bits and pieces about Copy Express‘ equipment and the numbers we deal with. You don’t really notice how big they are until you sit down and look at it.
